Supported Living Services (FSSLS) is vendored by the Regional Center of Orange
County. All of our consumers live in Orange County, California. Most of the
individuals we serve live in Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, Stanton, and
Midway City. Currently we are also serving consumers in South County and East
Orange County. Consumers generally select where they want to live. Consumers are encouraged to live
in an area with easy access to their circle-of-support. Other criteria include affordability,
accessibility, HUD housing requirements, work or day program location,
transportation needs, and availability of medical services.
Our consumers live in a variety of different housing situations. Some of our
consumers own their own houses or condos. These homes were purchased by the
consumers using their own funds, grants, loans and non-traditional credit.
When requested or necessary, FSSLS staff assist consumers in acquiring
property, property insurance, paying property taxes and homeowner association
fees. Other FSSLS consumers rent apartments, homes, condos, mobile homes, or
rooms in someone else's home. Again FSSLS staff, when requested to do so,
assist consumers in their search for appropriate housing. FSSLS staff help
with rental applications and applying for HUD housing whenever necessary. All
consumers who rent have rental contracts in their own names or in some cases
the name(s) of his or her conservator(s).
All of the consumers served by FSSLS share their home with a paid roommate. Consumers may
also share their home with another Regional Center
consumer.
